Do you perform at weddings and private events?
Yes. We specialise in weddings, private events, and corporate functions across Christchurch and Canterbury. From ceremonies through to evening celebrations, we tailor the music to suit your event.
Are you just an acoustic act?
No. While we can perform stripped-back, acoustic-style sets, we also deliver a full, polished live sound using live vocals, guitar, and professionally produced backing — perfect for building energy and filling the dancefloor.
Can you provide dance floor music?
Absolutely. Our sets are designed to build throughout the event, moving from relaxed background music into upbeat, dance-focused songs later in the night.
Do you tailor the set list?
Yes. Every set list is customised to suit your event, your guests, and the atmosphere you want. We’re also happy to accommodate special requests where possible.
How long do you perform for?
We offer flexible performance lengths to suit your event, from short ceremony or cocktail sets through to full evening coverage. This can be discussed during booking.
Do you provide your own sound system?
Yes. We provide professional sound and lighting equipment suitable for weddings and events, ensuring clear audio at appropriate levels for both background music and dancefloor sets
Can you learn a special song?
In many cases, yes. If you have a meaningful song for a ceremony or first dance, let us know early and we’ll do our best to accommodate it.
How far do you travel?
We're based in Christchurch and regularly perform throughout Canterbury. Travel outside Christchurch is available by arrangement.
How does booking work?
Once availability is confirmed, we'll secure your date with a booking agreement and non-refundable booking fee. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to the event.
How much space do you need?
Our setup is compact and suitable for most venues. We can perform comfortably in small ceremony spaces, restaurants, function rooms, and larger reception venues..
What areas do you service?
Velvet Groove provides wedding entertainment, corporate entertainment, and live music throughout Christchurch, Canterbury, and surrounding areas.
Do you provide all sound equipment?
Yes. We provide a professional PA system suitable for most weddings and events, along with lighting where required for upto 200 people.
